OverviewThis case study is one of Sumerge’s success stories in Digital Transformation. Sumerge did a first of its kind implementation in the MEA region with Export Development Bank of Egypt (EBank). EBank was founded in 1983 to boost and facilitate the Egyptian Exports in all sectors. Historically, EBank has been focused on corporate banking, but with the boom in the banking market in Egypt and the Middle East, EBank decided to operate in retail banking as well. |
| One of the key pillars of EBank’s digital transformation strategy is to build a solid foundation for its infrastructure (private cloud) on containers, container orchestration and microservices architectures. This will cater mainly for key applications such as core banking, internet banking and mobile banking and also new platforms such as enterprise content management, business process management and integration middleware that will integrate internal/external systems together.
By adopting microservices architecture, EBank will be able to resolve many organizational challenges such as time to market, ease of deployment, service scalability, availability, governance, security and auditing. It also entails shifting the culture away from a traditional approach to building applications and integration interfaces to microservices architecture that is managed by the EBank private cloud.
